The Core Of Human Existence

According to ancient Hindu scriptures, everything that is within or beyond human experiences is nothing but energy. This energy is constantly vibrating that governs the frequency rate of every matter in the cosmos. It is this frequency that determines the characteristics of any matter. The geometry and unique feature of any matter is attributed to the combination of frequencies at which the matter vibrates.

A tall building is erect and stable because the energies defining its geometry and shape are balanced and directional. Once the energies go unbalanced the whole structure collapses. This concept implies every living and non-living entity in this universe.

According to Vedas, inside our gross body, there is a subtle body or energy body, where energy(Prana) flows in channels called Nadis. There are around 72,000 Nadis in the human body, out of which three are of prime importance- Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna.

· Ida arises in the left side of the body and represents the moon principle.

· Pingala arises in the right side of the body and represents the sun principle.

· Sushumna runs through the central channel of the spinal cord and represents consciousness.

These three Nadis intersect at certain points along the spinal cord to form the center of energy ‘the chakras’.

There are seven main chakras in the human body aligned along the spine from the base to the crown. Each chakra is related to a vital part of the body and is responsible for certain feelings, emotions, desires, and overall well-being. Specific colours and elements are associated with each chakra.

1. Muladhara Chakra- Root Chakra

· Located at the base of the spine in the tailbone area

· Radiates red colour and represents the element earth

· Attributes the basic needs of survival i.e., food, security, money

· When this chakra is unbalanced a person feels insecure, less confident, and frustrated.

· Vrikshasana and Tadasana can be practiced to bring this chakra in balance.

2. Svadhisthana Chakra- Sacral Chakra

· Located at lower abdomen four fingers below the navel

· Radiates orange colour and represents the element water

· Energies residing in this chakra manifest creativity and desire for seeking pleasures.

· When the chakra is unbalanced a person is emotionally disturbed, less creative, and less energetic.

· Kakasan and Trikonasana can be practiced to bring this chakra in balance.

3. Manipura Chakra- Solar Plexus Chakra

· Located above the navel at the solar plexus( between the navel and rib cage)

· Radiates yellow colour and represents the element fire

· When the energies are dominant in this chakra, a person is more confident, optimistic, focused, and highly energetic.

· When the chakra is blocked one can face digestive problems. On an emotional level, a person might struggle with depression, anger, lack of self-esteem.

· Paschimottanasan, Bhujangasana, and Dhanurasana should be practiced to bring this chakra in balance.

4. Anahata Chakra-Heart Chakra

· Located in the heart region

· Radiates green colour and represents the element air

· Balancing this chakra will open the reservoir of infinite love and compassion for others in your heart, when the energies reach this chakra, a person becomes more caring and can form a meaningful and healthy relationship with others.

· When the chakra is blocked, one feels lonely, depressed, unable to trust anyone, fears rejection, is indifferent toward others, faces difficulty in emotionally connecting to others.

· Ardhsetubandh asana and Matasyasana can be practiced to balance this chakra.

5. Vishuddha Chakra- Throat Chakra

· Located in the throat region

· Radiates blue colour and represents the element space

· Manifests explicit communication and modest demeanor

· Inability to express oneself effectively can be a sign of blocked Throat Chakra. Lack of vocabulary to clearly express one’s thoughts, less confident or aggressive body language while communicating.

· Sarvangasana and Halasana help in unblocking this chakra.

6. Ajna Chakra-Third Eye Chakra

· Located between the eyebrows

· Radiates indigo blue colour, free from any element

· Our external eyes give us a perception of the outer world but the third eye is a window through which we can peep into our inner world, by activating this chakra one can attain a higher level of consciousness and awareness, it requires intense spiritual practice to activate this chakra, this chakra gives a deeper insight of the real self. It expands the limits of the brain and mind, resulting in increased intelligence and a deeper level of understanding.

· Activation of this chakra makes a person more peaceful and at ease with oneself.

· Shirsasana helps to unblock the chakra.

7. Sahastrara Chakra-Crown Chakra

· Located above head or crown

· Radiates pure white or violet colour, free from an element

· Central path for the flow of energy and wisdom

· The awakening of the crown chakra opens the path to connect with the supreme. It leads to the enlightenment of the being.

· A person with a balanced crown Chakra is free of materialistic pleasures but attached to the creator.

· Shirsasana can be practiced to unblock this chakra.

Our inner world is far more profound than our outer world, we just need to explore it to attain our true potential and meet the goal of self-realization.
